Daily life

On-site essentials

Your daily rituals and small routines matter, whether you’re visiting Southampton for a night or parking up for longer. Our range of facilities give you a level of independence that even luxury hotels overlook: everything you need, exactly where you need it.

Laundry

The shared laundry room is open 24 hours a day - no schedules, no service windows, no disruption to your city plans. Washing, ironing, and drying facilities will keep you fresh for your next visit into Fareham or the New Forest.

The Pantry

Skip a trip to West Quay Shopping Centre and avoid the waste that often comes when you’re on a short visit. Our pantry provides everyday essentials in sensible quantities, and a considered range of basics for a meal or two. It’s another Second Nature way of giving you more than a traditional boutique hotel offers.

Parking

We have a private on-site car park available from £13 per night. If you would like to add it to your stay, let us know when you book direct. We also offer EV charging to our guests, with two charging points.

Voi electric scooters

See the sites of Southampton on a Voi electric scooter. They’re located just outside our main entrance. Click here to download the app and off you go.

Families & Pets

Don't leave anybody behind, everyone's welcome here

Families

Second Nature gives you the space and service to shape your stay.

Our rooms in Southampton offer extra square footage for families to get into the swing of things, spend time together, and base themselves comfortably for whatever the day or night holds.

If you’re travelling with a youngster, we can add a cot to your room, free of charge. Just request one when you book.

Southampton itself is family-friendly through and through. You can spend the morning exploring maritime heritage at the SeaCity Museum or catching a show at the Mayflower Theatre, then head to the waterfront for a walk.

Party animals: please supervise your pet, do your best to manage any noise, and show consideration to other guests.

Good to know

154 High Street 7-9 mins walk

eBakeHouse

Part bakery, part neighbourhood fixture. Come for excellent coffee and stay for the pastries that rarely make it to lunchtime. A good place to start the day if you'd rather swap the usual chains for somewhere with real local character.

22 Carlton Place 20-25 mins walk

Gaia Health Store

A useful one to know about if you've forgotten something, or prefer to shop a little more consciously. From everyday essentials to natural remedies and eco-conscious products, Gaia is a trusted local favourite with thoughtful products and genuinely helpful advice.

71 High Street 5-7 mins walk

Telephone House Pharmacy

Hopefully you won't need it. But if you do, you'll be glad to know it's here. From everyday essentials to expert advice, this independent pharmacy is one of those useful local places that helps keep life moving when plans don't quite go to plan.

43-47 Queensway 8-10 mins walk

OSOTO inside Vinelo Record Store

Hidden inside Vinilo Record Store, OSOTO is the sort of place locals quietly recommend to each other. Excellent coffee, a relaxed atmosphere, and shelves of vinyl to browse while you wait. A good reminder that some of the best finds aren't always on the high street.

72 The Avenue 20-25 mins walk

Maurie's

A little further out, but well worth the detour. Maurie's has built a loyal local following with thoughtful ingredients, and sandwiches that rarely stay on the shelves for long. A good one for a picnic, a train journey, or simply a very good lunch.

20 Hanover Buildings 12 mins walk

Rice Up Wholefoods

A little different from your average supermarket. Rice Up is an independent workers' co-operative offering ethical groceries, refill stations, fresh food, and everyday essentials. If you're planning to cook during your stay, or simply enjoy discovering local businesses with strong values, it's well worth a visit.
