Through supplier selection and direct engagement, we will prioritise suppliers that actively:
1. Reduce their environmental footprint through:
- Products that support the circular economy through recycled content, re-use/repairability, take-back scheme at the end of use, and/or rental services
- Conservation of resources, including the use of energy, water and materials
- Waste minimisation, both within their operations and through reduction of packaging
- Use renewable energy to power their factories and corporate offices
- Have signed up to Science Based Targets / carbon reduction pathwa
- Certified: B-Corporation, Cradle to Cradle, Eco-label, FSC, Organic, Rainforest Alliance, Soil association, ISO 14001
- Products that have the highest energy rating (class A rated and above)
- Products that do not cause damage to biodiversity in their production
2. Have strong ethical policies:
- Comply with International Labour Organisation (ILO) principles: human rights and conditions of employment
- Ensure that slavery and human trafficking is not taking place in any of their supply chains
- Provide the Living Wage (at a minimum) to employees and contractors
- Certified: Fairtrade, Better Cotton Standard System
We will also:
- Seek out local suppliers to reduce travel emissions and support the local economy.
- Order as much as possible from one supplier with bulk delivery to save travel emissions.
- Investigate the use of sustainable/low carbon building materials to be used during construction and / or refurbishment.
