The super popular anime convention, MinamiCon, takes place in Southampton this March. It’s an incredible celebration of Japanese culture and all things anime. There’s so much to immerse yourself in across this three-day event.

When and where is the next MinamiCon held?

MinamiCon 31 runs from Friday 13th to Sunday 15th March 2026.

The much loved anime convention will be held in Southampton city centre at the Novotel Hotel. That’s within walking distance of Second Nature hometel. Book your stay with us for the MinamiCon weekend.

We’re big fans of MinamiCon. It’s such a welcoming space for all con-goers. It brings together a wonderfully diverse crowd to celebrate Japanese culture. And there’s always a really positive vibe, an amazing community spirit and so many memorable experiences to be had by all.

What activities and events can I expect at Minamicon?

Whether you’re after high-energy celebrations, immersive gaming or chilled cosplay, there’s something for all con-goers.

Friday 13th is the MinamiCon Matsuri – a kind of Japanese festival – including Artists’ Alley and traditional Matsuri games. Saturday 14th brings the fun with the masquerade and karaoke. Then Sunday 15th is more laid back with the Cosplay Café and Kotatsu Lounge.

Immerse yourself in experiences from cooking lessons to sake tasting, quizzes to cosplay workshops. The experienced Tokonatsu team equip the games room at MinamiCon with both modern consoles and retro games and arcade machines.

What is MinamiCon?

MinamiCon is the longest running anime con and we think it’s the best too. It’s a non-profit organisation run by fans for fans. That passion and enthusiasm can be felt throughout the convention.

The theme for MinamiCon 31 is Mecha. The MinamiCon 30 theme was Evolution. At MinamiCon 29 it was Yōkai (Japanese ghosts, spirits and monsters).
